This became clear from research performed by the financial department of the ING published last Thursday. One in nine (11 percent) interviewees think they will probably be working at home more frequently. Half of the interviewees is of the opinion that the government should contribute to costs involved in commuter traffic. The tax-free travel expenses, which allows employers to reimburse 19 cents per kilometre tax-free, will be axed next year. In the future, employees will lose out unless employers will raise the compensation, says the ING. According to economists, employees will be able to make an estimation on how much they will lose by subtracting the amount of tax-free travel expenses stated on the pay slip using the highest tax rate.
