Smaller accounting firms that control small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) may not provide the required number of training hours. The minimum number of hours required was increased from a thousand to fifteen hundred hours as of the start of 2016.
Of the 360 firms that are members of the umbrella organization, 228 completed the survey.
Jobs Deficit
66% of respondents believe that their own companies have insufficient controlling tools to cope with the increased number of practice hours of the students.
Some 85% think that students are forced by the new regime to opt for an internship in larger offices outside the SME segment. Consequently in the future there will be insufficient SME accountants.
Lawsuit
The results of the survey will be used in a lawsuit brought by the Commission against the umbrella organization SRA Attainment Accountants (CEA).
The CEA is responsible for the provision of training. The case is on the 14th of March.
