Due to a higher than expected number of passengers between 2014 and 2015, as well as the results of an effective cost cutting program, Schiphol airport are now in a position to decrease their airport fees substantially for the second consecutive year, in 2016.

As per April 1, 2015, the airport already announced an average decrease of their fees by 6.8 percent. After consultations with the airlines, today Schiphol announces an average decrease of 11.6 percent. By doing this, Schiphol will be able to maintain a strong international competitive position. The lower fees will be in effect as of April 1, 2016.

The substantial growth in passengers demands for more major investments to be put towards the infrastructure of the airport. This will enable Schiphol to grow further over time. Schiphol expects to make large investments in both their capacity and the quality of their services in the years to come. This means that the airport fees will see an increase in the next years. Schiphol aims to do this gradually, aiming to maintain as much of a competitive position as possible.
