
The bill also changes the role of the employer in respect of absence. Often the employer leaves the absenteeism of the company to prevention officers, where as this is actually the role of the employer. The occupational health services holds only an advisory role from here on. In addition, employees are given the opportunity to approach the company themselves, so that the issues of absenteeism could be avoided quicker and more often. The changes should take effect on January 1, 2017.
Because of the change in legislation, it is also possible that employee representatives or works councils can intervene, posing as prevention, which will strengthen their positions within companies.
