From all the people who became unemployed in 2014, 65% found a job within a year, according to the report by the UWV on Tuesday. In 2012 that was 60%.
For people over 50 years old, the job search remains difficult. More than four in ten of them were back to work within a year. In the age group 35 to 45 years the figure was 63%. Nearly nine in ten young people until 25 years of age were back to a new job within twelve months.
Temporary Workers
According to the UWV the differences for each sector are big. By the employment agencies, 80% found work again within a year, making it the best performing group.
People who looked for a job in financial services had the least chances. Barely four in ten unemployed were back to work within a year.
Other Sectors
About half of the unemployed went to work in other sectors. Unemployed from the “season-sensitive” sectors, such as construction and agriculture, often return to their sector. According to the UWV, this also applies to sectors that require specific skills of their staff, such as education and health care.
Unemployed people who came from the financial services most likely find a job in other sectors. For them, about 85% will not return back to financial services.
