If you ever had a job interview and have been preparing for it before hand by searching information or just been curious enough to see what questions are out there then you must have come across some stranger interview questions. Glassdoor published a list with the most unusual interview questions where questions such as: "Who would win in a fight between Spiderman and Batman?”, "Describe the color yellow to somebody who's blind," or "If you were asked to unload a 747 full of jellybeans, what would you do?" were asked during job interviews by well-known companies. These questions are difficult to answer in a normal conversation, now mix that with the stress and pressure of a job interview and well, you have a chaos! The real question here is why are recruiters asking these questions?

With questions like these, recruiters are testing your critical thinking skills and how well do you respond and handle unexpected challenges. Here are some steps to keep in mind while answering these questions:

1. Take your time

This type of questions always come as a surprise, no matter how well prepared you are for your interview. You are not supposed to have or know the answers, so take your time and think about what you want to say. Formulate a comprehensive answer in your head and only then tell the recruiter.

2. Ask questions

It is recommended to ask the recruiter questions that would give more information about the exact situation. Gathering as much information about a possible issue so you can take an informative decision shows that you can handle challenging situations.

3. Comprehensive answer

Never answer questions with one word only. Recruiters are more interested in the thinking process than the answer. It is a way to test your analytical and critical thinking skills.

4. Skills and abilities

Let’s not forget that you are being interviewed for a specific job, so your answers should always show your skills and abilities required for the job/workplace you are being interviewed for.

Questions like these might seem aimless in an interview, but actually they can say a lot about your abilities as well as personality. Therefore it is worth being prepared for them! Remember that there is no right answer when it comes to these questions, so take your time, ask questions, formulate a comprehensive thought and relate it to the job that you are applying for!
