D66 wants put end to periodic wage increase

AMSTERDAM - The automatic periodic wage increase makes 55-plusers unattractive to hire.
Employees should be rewarded for their performance and not their age, advocated D66 MP Koser Kaya Monday in a note. The MP recognizes that experienced workers are more productive than those without experience, "but the current cost of 55-plus takes them off the market." They would get more chances if they are rewarded for their performance. The government should set a good example. "If the social partners refuse to work on pay for performance, the politics can decide to declare collective agreements not generally binding." Source: Novum
