Employers' organizations AWVN, VNO-NCW and MKB-Netherlands want the current rules to be adapted around the severance allowance. The amount that dismissed employees would get should be aimed to be used for their training to overcome their complaints, so that they can get to work as soon as possible. To do so, employers will argue this year in collective bargaining with the unions.

AWVN also advocates an individual facility for both permanent employees and flexible workers. “The working life nowadays is longer. People should not be with the illusion that they can do the same job for the same company for fifty years”, said Van de Kraats in a statement.
The business community argues that the ones who work, now more than ever, are being able to take control of their careers.

APK

What could also help is a so-called career-apk. The note includes a proposal for the employees to establish henceforth periodically how strong their position in the labour market is,and what are the points of interest to do a training for example.

Furthermore, employers want that the working conditions to be less dependent on one's age and the number of years worked for the same boss. Extra regulations such as extra days off for elderly people could be better exchanged, for example, with personal choice budgets, according to the lobby groups.

Regarding wage developments, employers are holding to their pointof recent years: a bigger pay rise in companies or industries where it is possible, and a small rise where there is not much financial capacity, for example because of uncertain market conditions.

SER

The organizations are running the note ahead of the upcoming discussions with the Social and Economic Council (SER) on addressing labour market issues, such as sick pay and pension.

Minister Asscher of Social Affairs hopes that the participating of the social partners close to the elections in March can help the new cabinet to get to work right away.

FNV
Mariette Patijn from the employees' organization FNV responds: “There is in attempt in all possible ways that the responsibility is shifted to the employees, so that they are cheaper”.The FNV disagrees with this kind of vision-less individualization, which aims for more employer responsibility.
