Safety & Environment Engineer Job description
Responsibilities
- Reviews Contractual documents (Contractual Scope of Work, Responsibility Matrix, BoD, Project Technical specifications, Company standards); 
 - Produces / Maintains technical documentation in its field of activity; 
 - Participates to inter-discipline check of documents for its field of activity; 
 - According its field of activity tasks may be as follow: 
 - performs the hazard identification and consequence evaluation exercises; 
 - produces the safety studies (EER, dropped object, flare radiation...); 
 - prepares the hazardous area classification drawings; 
 - prepares the fire and gas matrix; 
 - prepares fire and gas, safety appliance locations and escape routes drawings; 
 - prepares the specification of fire protection and fire detection systems; 
 - prepares / coordinates the documentation package for safety reviews (HAZID, FIREPRAN, HAZOP, SIL...); 
 - produces safety review reports; 
 - develops the design of fire protection and fire detection systems; 
 - develops the design of EER system; 
 - performs / assists to the hydraulic studies of fire water based systems; 
 - prepares the data sheets and the requisitions and perform Bid evaluations for the fire protection equipment and the life-saving appliances; 
 - assists to the definition of the lay-out; 
 - performs the risks analysis and/or reliability studies; 
 - performs the noise control activities; 
 - Verifies the correct implementation of the HSE aspects in the design and vendors documentation through audits and reviews. The same function of co-ordination and verification is performed also when the design activities are contracted to a sub-contractor. 
 
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent from recognized university. Postgraduate degree in Safety and/or Chartered Engineer Status is preferred.
 - Experience in production and/or engineering of oil and gas facilities, including heavy experience in Technical Safety Engineering. Held supervisory position and hold track record to train and mentor junior engineers.
 - Physical Effects Modelling and Quantitative Risk Assessment. Experience with Shell FRED and SHEPHERD softwares is preferred. 
 - Shall be fully familiar with safety case regulations and applying the ALARP principles. 
 - Facilitating hazard workshops for Process Safety hazards. These may include HAZID, HAZOP, SIL classification, Bow-Ties, ALARP, SIMOP’s, and Facility Layout and Sitting. 
 - Developing ALARP demonstrations for Process Safety risks and preparing HSE Cases. 
 - Knowledgeable of Sour Gas design and operations standards and guidelines. 
 - Knowledgeable of Shell Standards and Guidelines. 
 - Knowledgeable of Fire Protection standards and guidelines. 
 - Proven track record in the preparation of technical documentation to a very high standard, especially Safety Cases, HEMP reports and HSE MS documentation; 
 - Project experience in Production & Maintenance; 
 - Ability to work as a team member as well as lead role .
