The last six months I have been working in the Netherlands as an Intern. Prior to settling down in Holland I expected it to frankly be a major culture difference from being raised in England.
I genuinely believed language and cultural differences would be a major set up socially. As I started meeting new people I was actually quite surprised that every person I met spoke very good English and could hold a conversation, at first I expected a lot of people to speak English as it is an International language but I honestly did not expect it to this kind of level.
In the Netherlands someone that does not speak any Dutch could actually ask a random person for directions in English and they could receive outstanding feedback from them.
In the Netherlands it is always a huge advantage to speak more than just Dutch. Many employers tend to prioritize candidates that speak more than just one language as Dutch is not commonly used around the world and multilingual employees can make life very easy for Dutch companies.
Working in The Hague, The Netherlands helped me communicate and network with many people from all around the world, from all the different countries I have visited I personally experienced Holland to have the most multicultural communities.
