A recent study has shown how 40% of managers would replace their employees. However, there are many regulations regarding dismissals which truly restricts that will. When the legal barriers disappear and there is no obstacle that number rises to 88%.
According to Dick Koopman, Director at Yacht, who conducted the survey, there is a big mismatch going on because of the economical crisis. As a consequence of a lack of vision in organizations, managers do not know what is needed in the future and thus cannot respond to future needs. Due to the fact that employees must stay because of the regulations and not being just fired, many managers have a team of employees that is not ideal for the workplace.
Also managers are a cause of mismatch themselves. They are not always able to participate in employees’ development processes and let them know what is expected from them in the future.
Despite that general trend, there are also organizations that look ahead and know what the trends in the market are. These companies have more satisfied employees, and about 35% of them hire the right people.
