
According to Het Parool, the Minister of Social Affairs and Employment Lodewijk Asscher wrote to the House of Representatives (Tweede Kamer) on 15 July 2015 that the money could be used to retrain workers in a timely manner. Recently, research has shown that Dutch employees claim to lack new skills and know-how to perform their jobs well and show a tendency in suffering more often from burnout symptoms. Thus, it is important to keep these skills on a par shifts in the market, Asscher said.
2,000 companies signed up for the €20 million campaign last year. Each company can apply for a maximum of €10,000.
